We went to San Antonio for my birthday this year, over 4th of July. We took Adam for a special "big brother/big boy" trip, and the afternoon that we arrived, our plans quickly changed from meeting up with a friend to watch fireworks, to going to a different free fireworks show and realizing there was no where to park and the place was PACKED, to driving to Fiesta Texas to pay $18 to sit in the back of the pick up in the parking lot and watch from there.
I was determined he would see fireworks this year. Sometimes, after spending 5 hours in the car, then two hours trying to find a place, then an hour waiting for the event to start (because it got delayed another 30 minutes) and THEN another two hours in traffic trying to get back to the hotel... those 15 minutes of fireworks somehow all become worth it.

I'm just telling you I want to be on that rollercoaster! |

Candy Crush to pass the time until the fireworks start. He was EXHAUSTED and really making us pay for it. |
And they started... and we weren't in the best position, and it wasn't the best fireworks show in the world, but they don't really have to be when you're seeing them for the first time.
