Quick Adam Stuff

I thought I'd take a moment to post some pictures of Adam from the last month or so. Most of them are generously sent to me by Adam's teacher, Ms. Lauren, as nearly all of my time now is spent in bed or slowly making my way to the couch for 20 minutes. Even this post is being slowly typed on the iPad. Because I'm in bed a lot, Adam is getting in a lot of quality time with Dad, Mamie, Grandpa, and Robin ("Raw Raw").

Adam can now count to ten by himself with no prompting. It's not perfect everytime, but it's pretty damn close. His vocabulary is pushing at my estimate about 150 words and he can put together 4-6 word phrases, ask questions and expect answers, and follow pretty complex commands. ("Please take your plate to the sink and throw away the fruit cup.") From what I've read and what our pediatrician says, he's developmentally on track with an almost 3 year old. Smart, smart boy. And tall, too, as they also say he's still holding strong in the 90th percentile.

Adam inherited my wake up strategy... SLOWLY.
Adam got a hair cut recently, but let me tell you that it's not worth it to try to go in to a Pro Cuts for a two year old. Shannon took Adam to our normal kid salon, saw 4 people waiting and one person working, and turned around and walked out. Not to be discouraged, he took Adam to the Pro Cuts where Shannon gets his hair cut (and they normally do a good job), and they DESTROYED his hair. He looked like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber. I tried to clean up around the ears where they completely ignored and was pretty unsuccessful. (Shannon said she was scared to cut because the scissors were sharp -- which is fine, but then say you don't do kids' hair!). Shannon got it fixed at a new kids salon the next day.

I don't have a picture of the Lloyd cut (It's funny now, but the hormonal trauma it caused this pregnant mom was almost too much to bear), but below are the before and after headshots (also courtesy of Ms. Lauren).

Adam is finally getting in some of his front teeth - the ones that most 8 month olds already have. Unlike most kids, he started with the front four, and then started getting molars at 18 months before the rest filled in, back to front. He's still missing about 6 teeth, but is working hard on some new ones. So while it may be a little later than most, he finally got to eat his first apple. He was very proud of himself.
