Port Aransas - June 2016

This year for family vacation, we took the kids to the beach for the first time. We spent a little time near Austin on the first night away with Jason and Miranda and then drove the rest of the way to Port Aransas, TX, to stay in a little condo on the beach for 5 days.

The kids had an absolute blast.

We swam in the pool, explored the beach, shopped a little, ate at a couple restaurants, relaxed, and even went for a cruise on a "real" pirate ship.

Claire's Jellyfish Sting:

I just love Adam's Beach Hair

Um. Maybe a little tired.

Jellyfish Sting the next day...

Passed out at dinner.

About to go on a "real" pirate ship.

Adam didn't love the pirate experience. He thought it was tasteless and rude that they kept calling people names and saying that if they got into trouble they would have to walk the plank. It made him nervous.

Colin, however, thought it was perfect.

Colin getting into a sword fight.

Adam picked out a periscope from the souvenir bag but then regretted it and wished he had gotten a sword. He cried and moaned, and Claire offered to trade her sword for his periscope so he would be happy. Sweet girl.

Sand Angels.

Claire was writing 81'a all over the sand. I don't know why.

Hunting for crabs... but the mosquitoes got us before we found any.

Just in case the kids look back and are curious about the political state during this time... a teenage boy spent the majority of a day working on this piece of art.
Pictures that they made in the kid's club at the condo....

Adam's hands. Don't ask me what's wrong with Colin.

Adam's other work... I think it's a flag

Getting ready to go.

Packing up to leave.
On the way out of town we stopped at Text State Aquarium in Galveston...

Claire faced the cousin's of her jellyfish attacker.

Claire: "Mommy, where do they keep the mermaids?"
The dolphins were a close second choice.

We didn't go on the Lexington, but they saw it from afar. They weren't all that impressed, somehow.

She finally found her mermaid in the gift shop, but ended up choosing a pink dolphin to take home.
The trip to the beach was so successful, I think we may do it again next year, just at a different location.
