Changes, and Spring 2017

Last year, our family dynamic changed drastically in a painful way, in that Shannon and I decided to divorce after many discussions and having explored alternatives. In the end, we split up in August of 2016 and share 50/50 custody of our three intelligent, kind, beautiful and clever children.  The main priority remains their happiness, so that is how we partner together.

We, the five of us, have spent the last year and a half or so attempting to adjusting to the "new normal."  Though we now have two different households to manage, we have done the best we can to develop in a healthy way as a family, even if that was not in our plans and even if it isn't what we traditionally think of as family. It's what we have, and we are still very blessed to have each other.

We sold the house in March of 2017. The divorce was final in April of 2017, and then we went together as a family to Disney World right after Adam started second grade and the twins started Kindergarten.  I took the time to post those pictures as well as the Holiday pictures from Christmas 2017, but there was a blank space in there as we healed, slowly.  Looking back, I couldn't leave those months blank and though I began to slow on the photographs with my DSLR, I never could stop capturing all the smiles and hugs and fun that we had together.

The next several blog posts will attempt to recover the span of time during that brief black out in our lives in which we still very much held each other, supported each other, and loved each other.

These next pictures are the ones that I have beginning February of 2017.

The twins on the first day I moved into the new town home just a few miles from Shannon's new rental house.  It was an unseasonably warm day in mid-February and they wanted to try out the new pool.

On day that Spring, Shannon came to visit and when the ice cream truck came around they got a treat.
