Party like a RockStar

On Saturday, we had a combination Adam/Shannon birthday party in our backyard, which turned into a whole day event. Adam did fantastically - no breakdowns, constant smiles, and totally handled the 30 people who came to celebrate with us.

In looking at the themes for Adam's party, I just couldn't see him doing boats or trains or barnyard animals... maybe monsters, maybe dinosaurs . . . but then I came across an invitation for an older kids' party that was "rockstar" themed, and it seemed to fit him perfectly.

 He dressed like a RockStar...

In true rockstar fasion, he climbed into the pool fully clothed just as the party got started...(I think he made a bee-line when he saw that either no one was watching or they were too far away to do anything about it. But hey, it's his party).

He opened presents and loved the crowded that gathered to watch...

Clapping for the crowd.

He played washers with his cousins...

He enjoyed sitting at (and climbing on) his new picnic table - and since Saturday can't wait to run out to the backyard to go play at it.

Everyone had regular cupcakes and he had a giant one.

Here are some more pictures from the day.

Overall I would consider the party a success - a lot of preparation, a lot of clean up, a lot of it was a blur... but we got to party with good friends, good music, some sandwiches, some wings, some cupcakes, and some beer, and Adam had the time of his life. Since the party he gravitates immediately to the backyard everyday, I guess hoping that there will be a crowd of people there with whom to play.
