Twin/Sibling Bond

Adam spent Friday night at Mamie and Grandpa's house, and when they came to pick him up he basically jumped into Mamie's arms and refused to let go until she took him with them, packed with his fox bag, the iPad, and his blankie.

Saturday morning he went to the playground and the park with them and came home about noon, and then we all had one of those lounge around kind of days.

The twins have reached an age where they look for each other, want to touch each other, listen for where each other are, smile and talk with one another... and Claire is very protective and aware of what Colin is doing at all times.

There have been a few instances where she's cried in the middle of the night, and when I go to check on them, she's fine but Colin is soaked from a leaky diaper (which is common because he's such a great sleeper). He will try to power through it and barely even make a complaint, but she'll yell and cry until we come and fix whatever is wrong. Once I pick him up, she goes back to sleep.

They are so in tune with one another that they feed off of each other. When one cries, the other will get going too... and not the half-hearted cries where they aren't quite sure what's really upsetting them. If Claire cries, Colin cries harder, and vice versa.

Claire is extremely social. Colin is too, but the difference is that Colin will take his time to check you out and make sure you're someone he wants to associate himself with. 99% of the time, you are, but he does his research first. Once you're approved he will demand that you talk with him, and he will talk and smile for as long as you will let him. Claire, however, thinks that everyone who walks into the room came especially to see her and she isn't stingy with the grins, or the stories, or the giggles.

At their developmental appointment, Colin was evaluated while Claire slept. When he was done he was tired and wanted to sleep, so I put him in his car seat/stroller, which he also didn't like at first. I woke Claire up so she could get evaluated, and by that time Colin had dozed off.

When I woke Claire up she was not unhappy, but she wasn't looking to grin at the therapist or even look for me. She looked for Colin, and found him, and then stared at him for a good two minutes to make sure he was okay (I think because he had been crying). She is extremely aware and protective of Colin. And Colin, the little sweetheart, thinks Claire hung the moon. He looks for her to tell him stories or do something funny, and she never fails to make him grin.

They also adore Adam and look for him when he's in the room. When he talks to either of them, their eyes light up and they immediately relax, no matter how loud, bouncy or fast he is. I'm fairly certain Claire is taking notes for later.

Looking at Adam

Looking at Adam

All three went to bed at approximately the same time tonight, and when I left Adam's room after reading a book, instead of saying, "Mama, LIE DOWN!" (he wants to cuddle before he goes to sleep -- sometimes he wants to play, sometimes it actually does calm him down, but I try to limit it), He said: "I want you to lie down?" in the sweetest little voice. I told him I couldn't tonight and to go to sleep, and that I loved him.

But now I regret not taking every opportunity to cuddle with him before the day comes when he asks me to leave instead of asking me to stay.
